James Washington

Co-Founder

Born in Los Angeles in 1965, James Washington attended Jordan High School before playing college football at UCLA. James was drafted into the NFL in 1988 where he played for the Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins. With the Cowboys, he won back-to-back Super Bowl titles. Growing up as an inner-city youth in Los Angeles, has given James a huge heart for giving back to the youth in his community and beyond. He seeks to improve the overall well-being of youth and young adults whose lives have been affected or disrupted by crime, violence, or abandonment and as a result, are more at-risk of turning to gangs, crime, drugs, or becoming withdrawn, antisocial, or socially inept.

James founded Shelter 37 in 1993 where he created and taught “Champs for Life”, a 17-week program for high schools that focuses on setting goals, staying focused, overcoming challenges and more. Shelter 37 is a not-for-profit public benefit corporation that provides highly effective life skills, job training and educational programs to youth in southern California. James’ efforts through Shelter 37 has helped to guide many inner city youth to attend and graduate from college which led to having much success in life.

Sharon Griffin

Co-Founder

Sharon is the founder of Thematic Learning Organization and managing principal at SDG Business Consulting and Financial Services (SDG) and oversees the delivery of financial literacy education, business support and risk management services. Thematic Learning Organization (TLO) is a non-profit who partners with corporations, state and local government, schools, churches, and non-profit organizations to offer educational workshops. Sharon formed TLO in 2014 when she recognized a need to bridge the gap between the underemployed and business owners who lacked skilled professional staff.

SDG’s primary focus is teaching individuals how money works and helping them implement strategies to achieve their family and business financial goals. SDG also helps people transition from employee to entrepreneur. Leveraging the business incubator model, she provides the resources and support to help individuals from start up through succession planning and everything in between. Whether it is business formation, insurance, tax preparation, retirement planning or wealth management, SDG is committed to providing high quality, personalized services that meets her clients’ unique needs.

Sharon is a certified risk manager, fiduciary and investment risk specialist, tax preparer. She is also a licensed life and health insurance broker, registered representative, and QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Attila Morgan

Co-Founder

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Attila Morgan is a licensed financial literacy advocate with a passion for helping people access the truth and tools they need to enhance their finances and create a better future for themselves. She is equipped with sound consulting principles and well-validated techniques which produces amazing results. Attila has dedicated nearly three decades of her life in the financial services industry; connecting with people and providing a safe place for them to build and maintain a strong financial foundation. As someone with strong leadership, motivational and communication skills, Attila is known to be a community-oriented visionary with a heart for our youth and young adults.

She is the founder and lead visionary of a financial literacy program called, Fit For Finance, a community platform where teens and young adults can gain the financial knowledge they need as they transition to the next phases of their life. She currently serves as the Director of Programs for Thematic Learning Organization (TLO) whose focus is to offer financial education to the community and has partnered with community leaders, professional athletes, and business owners to heighten awareness around how money works and the importance of building a solid financial foundation.

Brittany St. Julian

Team Member

Born and raised in Los Angeles in a single parent household where struggle was present but creativity and out of box thinking was formed. She spent my grade school years in catholic school where she focused on good grades and sports as means to get into a good high school. She would be accepted into a Cleveland High’s magnet program where the shock of her life begun. She changed environments from inner city to suburban and with this mindset change she created new goals to change her circumstances. She attended Cal State Northridge where she studied business and soon learned her love for learning was being challenged by institutional standards. She left CSUN and returned to the city to learn at Cal State Dominguez. She took a different approach to learning as during this time online marketing and online trading became popular.

In 2014, she began learning e-commerce and binary options trading as way to earn money as a college student. This was exciting as she learned new skills while controlling my time. She transitioned into stocks, forex, and cryptocurrencies in 2017. Cryptocurrencies was a world of excitement as she dedicated most of her time and energy into learning this new space. In 2020 after walking away from the financial services industry she followed her passion which was teaching and most importantly teaching financial education on investing and trading. She has since launched SB Advisors where she provides quality yet simplified education on the financial markets, strategies, and continued education. She enjoys every moment of teaching as she looks forward to being a bridge between the generations for educating all on finances and investments with a goal of creating financially savvy investors.

Sadara DeVonne

Team Member

Sadara DeVonne is a licensed California Attorney and Real Estate Broker with over 17 years of experience in the field. Her passion is to equip, advance and advocate for diverse populations in their pursuit and retention of real estate.

Ms. DeVonne enhances individuals, families and organizations by assisting them with building and retaining wealth acquired through real property. Well versed in the most complex real estate matters, Ms. DeVonne provides proficient counsel on residential and commercial real property matters, from simple contracts and dispute resolution, to estate planning and probate. Known for exemplary service, specialized industry knowledge and superior negotiation skills; Ms. DeVonne is the epitome of professionalism and integrity. Placing client needs above all else, she earns trust, meets and exceeds expectations in both fields.

Ms. DeVonne is CEO of Dwelling Places, Inc. a full-service real estate firm and founder of DeVonne Law. She serves as Co-chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association – Residential Real Property Section. In 2019, she founded Pursue You Too, a non-profit organization dedicated to the wholistic empowerment of today’s women.

 

Michele Mabrie

Team Member

Michele Mabrie is a southern California native who graduated from La Puente High School. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in both Psychology and Sociology at the University of La Verne. She also obtained her master’s degree in Social Work at UCLA with an emphasis in Child Welfare. Michele worked for over 10 years as a Clinical Social Worker with high-risk youth in the Compton and South-Central Los Angeles communities.

Michele later obtained her guidance counseling and Social Science teaching credentials from the University of La Verne and Cal Poly Pomona preparing her work as a high school counselor for 25 years. During her tenure she fulfilled her passion of helping students earn their high school diploma and create their plan for post-secondary education. Her passion for helping students find a path in life through education has helped her to have a positive impact on several young lives.

Angelika Henry

Team Member

Angelika Henry is a highly successful Consultant that designs and delivers education through distance and remote learning platforms. Her clients include colleges and universities, large and small companies, and nonprofit organizations. She is focused on promoting knowledge and understanding through customized education with an objective to develop partnerships in the eLearning and online course ecosystem.

Angelika is Certified by the State of California to teach within the K12, Adult and College systems. She also holds a Masters of Science in Education with a focus on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. She is a college Adjunct Professor and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Management Information Systems. She has taught many Business and Technology courses face-to-face, online, and in hybrid situations at local Community Colleges and Universities including California Baptist University, Cal Poly Pomona, and Charles Drew University. As a Distance Learning expert for over 10 years with Blackboard Inc, Angelika aided in the integrations and configurations of back-end computer systems. Then with a focus on the end users, developed partnerships with; Instructional Designers, Administration, Faculty, Facilitators and/or Trainers to design, implement and deploy student centered learning.

Angelika is the CIO of Thematic Learning Organization where she is dedicated to meeting the specific learning needs of program participants. Her passion is to assure that no matter the topic, it is important that the Education/Training one experiences, should not just tick off the bullet points of knowledge, but that the teaching, curriculum and delivery methods meets the students’ learning needs.
